Newsletter #1
Newsletter of Dissent 8/11/25
August 15th, 2025
If you're reading this, congratulations! This here is the first edition of Newsletter of Dissent, our ~brand~ ~spankin'~ ~new~ weekly bulletin that aims to share all things Notes Of Dissent! Every week we'll start out with a little blurb like this about what's been happening in the band, follow that up with any major announcements, any upcoming protests or events, and our rehearsal/meeting schedule. I also plan to include a fun lil' something at the end of each newsletter, so keep on reading!
Anyway, without further ado, let's get to the announcements!
Announcements
We're super excited to share that we are ~officially~ incorporated as a non-profit and able to take donations!!! If you're unable to participate in rehearsals or events, then this is a great way to help support the band! :) There are two ways you can donate:
- Scan the Zelle QR code (see below) via your mobile banking app, if your bank is compatible, or
- Follow this link to our fundraising campaign on Zeffy: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/peer-to-peer/tools-of-dissent
Raised funds will be used to supply needed items like loaner instruments, water, event support items, and even new music for the band! We greatly appreciate any level of support! If you're financially able to, please consider a donation!
Upcoming Events
This section is split between events we've committed to attending, and potential events that have come up that we are considering joining as a band but haven't committed to yet. Even if we don't commit to those potential events, feel free to attend them individually or spread the word/print the flyers if you like!
Committed Events
- 9/20 Indivisible Leadership Meeting:
We will be doing a small performance (one or two songs) along with a couple of our leadership folks giving quick speeches about the how/what/why of Notes of Dissent as a presentation on alternative forms of protesting! The event will take place at 6842 Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, CO 80003 (Community Recreation Center), and we'll be onstage from 2:00 PM - 2:15 PM. We're looking for enough folks to show up to get a decent instrumentation, let us know if you can make it by filling out the form linked in the Potential Events section below! If you can make it, call time is at 1:45 PM sharp, as we only have a 15 minute window onstage for songs and leadership talks. The Indivisible event itself will last basically all day, so feel free to come earlier and stay later! - 10/25 Concert:
We will be holding a concert with---wait for it...
FREE ADMISSION! at the Boulder Public Library on Saturday October 25th at 10:30 AM, so mark your calendars and spread the word! If you want to help plan for this concert, there is a planning thread for it in the #planning-and-organizing channel in the discord.

Labor Day Weekend Events (8/29-9/1):
- No Enemies March at the Immigration Courthouse:
8/30 at the Immigration Courthouse at 19th and Stout. 9 AM - Noon, play at 9:30. Join with No Enemies, Indivisible, Solidarity Warriors, and Our Revolution to protest ICE's
bullsh!t intimidation and disappearing tactics by being loud outside the Immigration Courthouse. - Melt The ICE Camps (NCCC):
8/29 & 8/30 at Coors Field starting 6PM both days. Spread the word of these ICE detention camps and what we, as average busy people, can do to STOP FURTHER INJUSTICE IN COLORADO. Or in other words: "BE LOUD AND SHIT BEFORE THE BASEBALL GAMES ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY!" (Sounds way more entertaining than any Rockies game to me! -Nathan)
Other upcoming events:
- 9/8 or 9/15 Vigil for Jeanette Vizguerra:
Several band members are planning to join the weekly vigil for Jeanette Vizguerra on Monday 9/8 or 9/15. This will take place outside the Geo ICE Facility in Aurora, starting at 6PM. - 9/21 Sun Day - Action Celebrating The Power Of Clean Energy:
Th!rd Act Colorado is hosting an event celebrating Clean Energy and Electric Vehicles at City Park Esplanade from 1-4 PM on September 21. They are interested in having our band join for some marching and music to help celebrate the power of clean energy.
